General Information

    Principal's Office

My name is Bren Payne and this year will be my third year as principal at Horizon High School.  Thank you, everyone from the staff to the students, from the community to central Administration for the overwhelming support that I have received. It's quite an honor for me to have a front row seat to witness just what can happen in a school, and in the lives of the students of that school, when people come together to support our kids. Horizon is a model for what can happen if we believe everyone can succeed.

To our Horizon students: Thank you for your work, for your tenacity, and for your desire to grow.   You are the heart of our school and you are the ones this school is for.  Without your willingness to step up, show up,  stand up  and take charge of your future, your education would be meaningless. I am inspired by you daily. Your resilience and willingness to try new things helps me envision new ways to make what we do here at Horizon even better. Thank You

To our parents and Guardians: Thank you for your support.  Here at Horizon we pride ourselves on building close positive relationships with our students and with their families. As a principal, teacher, community member and parent I recognize that teenage kids are at times challenging and that they are sometimes don't see the opportunity in challenges or get the most out  opportunities provided through challenges.  Your support and close positive interaction with us helps our students see the value in pushing themselves and expanding their horizons.

To the Evanston Community: Our students love being out in our community.  Evanston is a great place to live and provides unique opportunities for learning. Horizons Community Outreach Program has our students out there in the community participating with so many of you in so many different ways. This program is one of the best things that Horizon offers to students and it's all about Community Support.  A huge thank you to our community for supporting our school and our students and for letting them experience, first hand,  what great people live here and  what a great place Evanston is.

Horizon’s teachers are second to none. They are innovators, mentors, cheerleaders and so much more.  Our staff is at the very heart of everything we believe and do at Horizon and they simply believe that every student can do amazing things.. They make me a better person and a better educator as they push our practice and find ways to stretch traditional views of education in ways that make great things happen for Horizon  students.  I appreciate our staff and their support and willingness to take on challenges and find innovative ways to help students succeed.  .

Last year Horizon was recognized as a school of excellence and praised for its innovative practice  by the WDE.  We also received recognition at Wyoming’s  2025 Teacher-Con, Educator conference.. We’ve got some really great things happening here and I am truly excited for the remarkable things to come.

We have great things on the Horizon.
